
My Story
I am an Environmental Geochemist with over 10 years of experience across academic research, environmental consultancy and applied geochemical investigations.
My work focuses on mine waste mineralogy, mineral-water interactions and the environmental behaviour of potentially toxic elements.
I provide technical expertise in linking detailed mineralogical and microanalytical characterisation of metal-bearing minerals with water chemistry data from mine wastes and contaminated soils. A key part of my work is identifying environmentally important mineral phases and linking their weathering behaviour to contaminant mobility. Much of my work has focused on pH-neutral mine waste environments associated with gold deposits, where elements such as arsenic and antimony can remain mobile. My field and laboratory experience includes projects across Canada and Europe.
Additionally, I have overseen ultramafic rock enhanced weathering field trials in soils in Scotland and contributed to enhanced weathering trials in mine tailings in Finland, focused on carbon removal.
Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, kayaking and foraging in forests and experimenting with homemade food and drinks using foraged ingredients.
